Sandpoint Bike Week - 2008

We've expanded!

Last September, we had over 250 bikers who made the First Annual Sandpoint Bike to Work Day a huge success.

This year, we have an entire week of great events. The change in date ties in better with Bike to Work events around the country scheduled for May and June; allows us to include the schools; and we hope will start many on a summer of riding fun to work and school, around town, and as part of their regular exercise program. So leave your car in the driveway and hop on your bike!

This event promises to become the premier biking experience of the Inland Northwest and helps emphasize Sandpoint as a center for outstanding road and mountain biking. The exciting eight-day schedule includes:

Saturday May 31	A Bike Swap from 9-1 at the old co-op / grainery building. Trade, shop, consult with mechanics, learn bike safety and much more!! Click here for more information about the Bike Swap.
Sunday June 1	Competitive Instincts and the Panhandle Alliance for Education are sponsoring Mel Dick on an epic 10,000 mile ride around America. Join him at 7:30 am at County Courthouse and ride the first leg down Dufort Road to Newport, then send him off and return to Sagle. Donations to PAFE are encouraged. Wednesday June 4	Ride to Work/School Day. We anticipate over 1,000 riders of all ages to participate in the event! Rest stops will again be available at Misty Mountain Furniture, Outdoor Experience and Sandpoint Sports. All registrants will be entered in the pool for prize drawings Friday night. Purchase a 2008 t-shirt to support the sponsors and show the world you are a serious biker from the Sandpoint area! Friday June 6	Join us at the Panida Theater for the first ever Sandpoint Bicycle Film Festival. A series of short films with a biking theme will be shown. Those registered at the door, or through Bike to Work/School, will be eligible to win the plethora of prizes we have collected! Get your FREE ticket at any of the local bike shops or other Bike Week activities!
Saturday June 7	Sandpoint Sports and Sports Plus have again organized the Rails to Resort Hill Climb aka Schweitzer Hill Climb. Although a competitive event, it is open to riders of all skill levels who like a challenge! Click here for registration form and additional information.
